So today i have created this 3d volumetric effect based on a sliced texture that I rendered in Houdini and bought it in unreal, as research for my upcoming project. This is a complete shader-based effect as the entire volume is rendered inside a simple poly cube. For Research and testing purposes I am using the "Test Geometry Tommy" that ships with Houdini and using the volumetric sliced texture rendered from it. I am looking forward to seeing all the crazy stuff that can be created using this and the crazy awesome applications of it.
Using basic shaders in the material graph. This is what we get.
The wireframe of the scene.
Basic Parameters i created for the shader.
I added some more parameters to play around the effect.
